The importance of time

Why should time matter to us? That’s an interesting subject to have a little ponder about!

Here we are, looking at how you can get great watch deals online. We may truly be pleased at the thought of saving 60% by buying a white watch in this way. But what’s it really all about? Why does time matter to you?

We’re assuming, of course, that time does matter in some way. If not, you probably wouldn’t be looking at a website that’s all about watches. Some people manage without them. In fact, there are some homes where you won’t find a digital alarm clock, a kitchen clock, or a beautiful clock in the living room. It seems that the idea of time has been banished.

Does this appeal to you? In some senses, it’s easy to see how we could enjoy spending time (ho ho!) in a world without methods of checking on what the actual time is. Would we rush about less? It does seem likely that we would be considerably less stressed as a result.

This may not be realistic though. We might struggle to make it to appointments. Although this might not bother us too much, there’s a real danger that we’d start to annoy other people. Our popularity would take something of a beating.

That’s why, when we look around our homes, we often find that there are so many resources that are there to help us tell the time. Think about them for a second – you’ll probably realise that there are more than you’d previously thought. Everything from an oven to a DVD player, from a bedside alarm clock to a home computer – there’s no escaping devices that help us to know what time it is.

It seems obvious that these haven’t been invented on a whim. They exist because plenty of people (you and me included) like to know exactly what the time is. It defines how we spend our days. When we’re left in a situation where we’re not sure of the exact time, we may feel somewhat lost. Incomplete, we might say.

So that seems to be the essence of time. It’s part of the fabric that holds our lives together. Can you imagine being in a situation where you’re unable to know the day, date and hour of the day? It would feel unnatural.

White watch discounts online

If you’re looking to buy a white watch online then how do you go about getting a quality watch at a discount price? Fortunately, there are a few simple tips that should help you to get the best deal around:

Who are you buying for?

As a first step, you’ll need to think about who you are actually buying for. This could be extremely easy if you’re intending on buying something for yourself? In particular, you’ll need to be aware that some watches are designed specifically either for men or women. Others are unisex. You’ll obviously want to select something suitable.

How white?!

Ok, so you’re probably thinking about buying a watch that’s white. If you weren’t, it’s unlikely that you’d have found your way to this website! But are you looking for something that has a white face only, or a watch that goes the whole hog! There are plenty of variations available, but it may help you to reduce your search.

Check out the right retailers

Some online stores simply don’t list many watches that are actually white! As a result, it makes sense to avoid these stores where possible. Your time will be better spent checking out the shops that do offer a great range. We’ve listed a number of them on the right-hand side of this site.

Compare prices

One of the great things about using the internet to do your shopping is that you can quickly compare prices. Don’t forget that this can give you a great advantage. Compare prices to make sure that the same watch isn’t available cheaper elsewhere.

Remember the delivery costs

Some stores charge a significant sum for delivering products. Although watches are often fairly light, they are also frequently expensive. You’ll find that delivery costs can be quite high. So factor these in when thinking about the total costs and always check the situation when carrying out price comparisons too.

How about the returns policy?

As we’ve mentioned above, you may be shopping online because this will allow you to get the best deal. This makes a lot of sense. But you may find it difficult to select a watch without being able to try it on.

This makes it important that you look carefully at any photos that a retailer provides. But a great returns policy can also take a lot of the stress out of buying. You’ll then find that, if the watch isn’t right for you, it will be possible to return it to the retailer nice and easily.

Many consumers forget to consider the returns policy. Don’t allow yourself to be caught out. It’s an important part of the mix.

Getting the best deal on a white watch isn’t just about paying the least money. It’s about choosing a watch that you (or the recipient) will really be happy with. The simple tips shown above can go a long way to ensuring that you really do get a good deal when buying online.

The history of watches

I thought it might be nice to start with a history lesson. Don’t worry though – this should be more fun than the ones that you remember from school! I’m intending on offering a whirlwind tour of the history of watches and watch-making!

The origins of watches

Well, the first watch was actually produced back in 1868. Made by Patek Philippe (a company based in Switzerland), that first watch was made for women and was really meant to be a small piece of jewellery. In effect, they had created a wonderful, exciting new type of bracelet.

Back then, it really did seem to be about the way that it looked. It’s practical use was almost secondary.

But the first mens watch looked at things from the opposite point of view. One of the early aviators wanted something that could allow him to tell the time when he was up in the air, flying his aeroplane. There was nothing around that would do the job.

Fortunately, Louis Cartier was on hand to produce the first men’s wristwatch, which was produced in 1904.

Growing popularity

In the First World War, the wristwatch gained popularity. They were much easier to use in battle than the devices that they were rapidly replacing, which were pocket watches.

It’s easy to see why they became important. We’re used to watching war films these days and learning about co-ordinated movements and attacks. Early watches would have helped to facilitate those back in the First World War.

They weren’t just used on the ground. They were critical to the air force too and it wasn’t long before the military started to manufacture watches in significant numbers.

Modern designs

Today, we expect our watches to be a combination of both fashionable and practical. We’ve seen numerous mechanisms and designs. Some have clearly been more successful than others. We’ve also witnessed a demand for even more variations.

The watch industry is still going strong. It’s amazing to think that it actually has a relatively short history. Can you imagine a world without watches?

Why white watches?

When I told a friend that I was setting up a blog about white watches, the first thing that he asked me was: “Why?!”

I guess it’s a good question! The truth is that I love watches and I particularly love white ones. I think they look stylish and can actually make a really bold fashion statement too. That’s not to say that they are all great – some of them aren’t quite up to scratch!

So this site is all about sharing my love of white watches. I’ll talk about some of my favourites and will also look to identify some of the best deals that are available right now. There are new designs coming out all of the time and retailers are also frequently reviewing their prices.

You’ll gather from this that the world of watches is surprisingly fast-moving. I don’t think I’ll be short of topics to write about!

I hope that you’ll enjoy the journey into the world of watches. It promises to be great fun!
